From Hamline website: Pipers drop final game of 2010 calendar year to Falcons
Posted by Falcons Fan on December 15, 2010
Mary Wilkowski had a game-high 24 points, but the Hamline University women’s basketball team dropped a 67-52 road non-conference game at UW-River Falls on Tuesday night.
UW-River Falls jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the first three and a half minutes of play, extending it to a 13-point lead, 15-2, a minute later.
Still down by 13, 21-8, Kara Poirier (So., Eau Claire, Wis.) hit a jumper to ignite a 10-point Piper run. At 8:51, the Pipers trailed, 21-18.
The Falcons bounced back quickly, however, and were once again ahead by 10, 33-23, just four minutes later.
Hamline trailed by 14, 39-25, at the half.
The Pipers tallied the opening 10 points of the second half, including two baskets apiece from Nikki Klinck (Sr., Hibbing, Minn.) and Mary Wilkowski (Sr., Savannah, Ga.). However, as before, the Falcons rebounded and regained a double-digit lead at 12:34, 47-37.
River Falls never looked back from there, ultimately winning the game by 15, 67-52.
Wilkowski tallied 24 points and seven rebounds to lead the Pipers. Klinck and Poirier added 12 points apiece.
The Pipers fall to 1-7 overall with the non-conference loss. The Falcons are now 7-3. Hamline next plays on Monday, January 3, at 7:30 p.m., hosting Gustavus Adolphus.
