UW River Falls Women’s Basketball Hard At Work With Fall Workouts

Falcon workouts begin at 7 a.m., with strength training, conditioning and afternoon open gym.

While most folks around the City of River Falls and the University students are slapping the snooze button on their alarm clocks attempting to squeeze out a few extra minutes of shut-eye, members of the Falcons Women  Basketball Team are busy lifting and running as part of an open morning workout regimen.

Three mornings each week at 7 a.m. the Falcons converge in the weight room for conditioning and weight lifting.

“It’s a fast-paced workout and we are able to get a lot done in a short amount of time,” said junior guard Tiffany Gregorich who works out with her teammates at 7 a.m. “The way we workout, it’s by design. Our team knows how to prepare to play in this system and that’s what we are doing. There isn’t time to rest in between drills and everything we do has a purpose. No time gets wasted out there. It’s conditioning, both physically and mentally.”

In the afternoon and evening the players have open gym four days a week highlighted by Lauren Pellowski yelling and chirping during 90 minute open gyms.  Everyone’s working hard and competing this fall to prepare for a season with high expectations.

It is clear the players are ready for 1st official practice October 15.

2nd Annual Falcon Basketball Buddies Camp Starts Monday Sept 27

The Falcon Women’s coaching staff and team is excited to host the UWRF Falcon Women’s Basketball Buddies.  It’s for girls in grades 1-8 that want to have some fun meeting our team and playing basketball on Monday nights from September 27-October 18.  It’s a great opportunity to prepare for your season and to create memorable connections between our UWRF team and the surrounding area youth basketball players.

Want to have a fun while learning more about Falcon Women’s Basketball? Then come join the UWRF Women’s Basketball team as they present Falcon Basketball Buddies. Each week you will have the opportunity to interact with the 2010-11 UWRF Women’s Basketball team while participating in drills, games, fun activities, and more.

Who: Girls, Grades 1-8

Where: UWRF Karges Gym

When: Mondays, 6:15-7:30 P.M.

Basketball instruction, Falcon t-shirt, 4 women’s basketball game tickets and ball-girl sign-up for Falcon women’s basketball home game.
