
The Falcon women’s basketball team fell to UW La Croose on Wednesday night, 67-52, at the Karges Center.
La Crosse jumped out to a lead early on and did not relinquish the lead for the rest of the night. Consecutive three-point shots from downtown by La Crosse’s Taylor Larson put the Eagles up by 10 points early in the first half. Tiffany Gregorich hit a shot with 2:33 left and was fouled. Gregorich would convert on the free throw to pull the Falcons within 10. Brittany Gregorich made two free throws to pull UWRF to within eight points. The Falcons would be down by 10 at the half, 33-23.
River Falls would not recover from this deficit throughout the second half. La Crosse would battle the Falcons with a balanced attack. Five Eagles scored in double figures and one player score nine points. Only two Falcons would score in double figures in the contest.
La Crosse shot over 50 percent from the field in this contest. River Falls only converted 29.5 percent from the field. La Crosse also shot 40 percent from downtown while River Falls only shot 18.2 percent. River Falls got 20 points from their bench. Tiffany Gregorich led the team with 13 points, and Maranda Dohrn scored 10. Taylor House led the team in rebounds with six.
River Falls, now 13-2 overall and 5-2 in WIAC play, will next host UW-Platteville at 5 p.m., on Saturday at the Karges Center.
