Forward Taylor House (So., Maple Grove, Minn.) helped the Falcons to a split in two WIAC games last week. House, 5-11, scored a career-high 21 points in the team’s 88-59 win over UW-Platteville on Saturday at the Karges Center. She was 9-12 (.750) from the field and 3-4 (.750) from the line to lead the Falcons in scoring. She also led the team with six rebounds in a game against La Crosse. In the two WIAC contests she scored 29 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. She had one assist and one steal. She was 13-19 (.684) from the field. House played 14 minutes in each game. This year she is averaging 7.3 points and 4.1 rebounds a game. She leads the team with 13 blocks and has 15 steals. House has played in all 16 games.

The Falcons beat UW-Platteville, 88-59, Saturday night at the Karges Center to improve to 14-2 this season.
With the Falcon win, combined with a Whitewater loss, UWRF is now in first place in the WIAC standings with a 6-2 record. Whitewater, Stevens Point and Eau Claire are all 5-2 in WIAC play.
The Falcons started off well in Saturday’s contest, but it wasn’t until about halfway through the first half that the Falcons would really take off. Brittany Gregorich drained a three-point shot with 11:36 left in the first half to put the Falcons up by eight. Nikki Guhr followed that up with a steal and layup on the ensuing possession to pull the Falcons ahead by double digits. The two teams would exchange hoops throughout the first half and the Falcons took a 40-29 lead into halftime.
The Falcons would pull away little by little in the second half. With 14:39 remaining in the game Katie Theisen hit a three-point shot from downtown to put the Falcons up by 20 points. Taylor House’s layup with 12:59 left put the Falcons up by 25 points. With 5:36 left in the game Jenna Hanson would hit a three-point shot to put the Falcons up by 34, their largest lead of the night.
The Falcons played a very impressive game to snapped their two game losing streak. The Falcons shot 50 percent from the field, including five field goals from beyond the arc.
House led the Falcons in scoring with a career-high 21 points coming off the bench. She also added six rebounds an assist and a steal. Brittany Gregorich also scored in double figures with 13 points in the contest to go along with nine rebounds and six assists. Many other players added to the scoring including Tiffany Gregorich and Maranda Dohrn with nine and eight points respectively. Kelli Hilt added four points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
The Falcons will go on the road to take on UW-Stout on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Last night some great fans and Falcon Backcourt members provided a team meal. Thank you Ellen and Brian Schultz.
Brittany Gregorich said “the meal was great and it was very kind of them to do this. I know the whole team really appreciated this”. Brittany added ” it was almost as good as my Dads chicken wings on the fire pit”.

On Saturday January 16, UWRF Falcon women’s basketball team plays host to UW Platteville at 5:00 at the Karges Center. This is YOUTH and HIGH SCHOOL Day, all Coaches and their significant other and players are invited to attend for FREE. We will announce your team during the game, so be ready to cheer for your team and ours.
If you are a not on a team as a Youth you can still get in free and your parents get in for $2 each.
Watch Coach Holbrook discuss this event. It will be the last half of the interview.
If you would like free tickets just email Coach Holbrook at cindy.holbrook@uwrf.edu so she can reserve them for you. Just let Coach Holbrook know who the contact is and what team you represent and how many FREE tickets you would like. We will have them at the ticket counter for you that night. The parents of the players and family members can get in for $2 each. Parents just mention which Basketball program you are with.
