Falcons Lose WIAC Playoff Game at Eau Claire

The Falcon women’s basketball team fell short against UW-Eau Claire, 62-47, at Zorn Arena Tuesday night in a WIAC playoff game.
EC jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead before the Falcons answered. The Falcons followed with a 10-2 run of their own to give RF a two point advantage with 14:29 remaining in the first half. EC quickly regained the lead, however, and maintained a six point advantage at halftime, 25-19.
The Blugolds would keep the lead throughout the second half. The Falcons cut the EC advantage to six points with 5:00 remaining when Jenna Hanson dropped in a hoop after getting an offensive rebound. But the Falcons could not get any closer.
Kelli Hilt led the Falcons with 14 points and six rebounds. Maranda Dohrn put together a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Taylor House chipped in 10 points.
Heather Witt poured in 19 points to lead EC in the winning effort.
RF shot 16-50 from the field (.320) including only 2-18 (.111) from beyond the arc. EC shot 22-58 from the field (.379) and an impressive 7-15 (.467) from behind the three-point line. The Falcons were 13-16 (.813) from the free throw line. The Blugolds only turned the ball over 12 times while the Falcons committed 22 turnovers.
The Falcons finish the season 14-12.
