Four UW-Stout Players in Double Digits Prove Too Much for UWRF

The Falcons fell to UW-Stout at the Karges Center Wednesday night after four Blue Devils proved to be too much for UWRF to handle. The final score was 84-62.
With 4:30 to go in the first half, the Blue Devils went on a 13-2 run before Lauren Pellowski ended the drought. With just over 3:30 remaining, the Falcons trailed 33-24.
UWRF went on a 7-1 run in turnovers before the end of the first half, and Stout’s Charlee Edwards scored eight quick points in three minutes, and picked up two big steals at the end of the half. At halftime, the score was 47-32.
Kim Stokke scored six quick points for UW-Stout at the start of the second half.
Tiffany Gregorich finished with 17 points and two steals to lead the Falcons. She shot 5-9 from the field and 6-7 from the free throw line. Helping Gregorich out, Maranda Dohrn had nine points and seven rebounds. She shot 2-4 from the field and 5-6 from the charity stripe.
Both Pellowski and Jenna Hanson had seven points on the evening. Pellowski lead all defenders with three steals. Hanson shot 3-8 from the field, and Pellowski went 3-7.
Lindsey Gerber scored 19 points for UW-Stout, shooting 5-9 from the three-point line. She shot 7-11 from the field. Edwards had 17 points, and was a perfect 4-4 from the free line as well as 6-12 from the field.
Julia Hirssig and Stokke had 14 and 12 points respectively. Hirssig lead all rebounders with nine boards, and she shot 7-11 from the field. Stokke went 4-8 from the field and 4-4 from the free throw line.
As a team, the Falcons shot 38.5-percent (20-52) from the field, 20-percent (3-15) from the three-point line, and 70.4-percent (19-27) from the free throw line.
UWRF’s four-game win streak is snapped, and the team falls to 10-2 at home. The Falcons fall to 7-8 in the WIAC (14-10 overall). The Blue Devils advance to 10-5 in conference play and 15-9 overall.
Next, UWRF will play host to the UW-Whitewater Warhawks. The game will tipoff at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Karges Center. It will be the last conference game of the season.
